The title of this entry is CHAZ. If you don't know, CHAZ stands for Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone.
There isn't any police presence (hence the autonomous part).
The entire idea really is amazing. The mayor of Seattle ordered the police to leave the East Precinct (the precinct in capitol hill). Later on the precinct saw quite the bit of graffiti. Its title was changed from "Seattle Police Department East Precinct" to "Seattle People's Department East Precinct". The word "people" reminded me of something that happened in the past. The Cultural Revolution. The name of China is "People's Republic of China". In the CHAZ there was even this area called "Decolonization Conversation Cafe". You could wait in line to share your opinions about the reason for CHAZ.
I was also informed that another reason for creating this autonomous zone was to give this stolen land back to the Native Americans. That point seemed a little strange. I didn't know what giving Native Americans their land back had anything to do with BLM. To my knowledge, CHAZ was created to give people a space to protest without police intervention. They even have an area within Capitol Hill just for people to voice their opinions to others.
Speaking of the said space, I now want to just share with you my amazement of CHAZ. The thing they have created is like a small town. A small civilization. It's so incredible how so many people all over Washington have come to it and supported it's cause. They have a station where they accept donations. It had a long line. SO many people were helping however they could. Their help went from donating gatorade to creating BLM T-shirts to give to random people in CHAZ. They had their own food trucks all around. They even had massage therapists stationed there if people felt stressful voicing their opinions. It was beyond belief.
You would expect there to be a lot of violence in an area without any police presence. On the contrary, CHAZ was full of polite people. People paid their respects to those who lost their lives during BLM protests. People stood in lines to get things. There was no looting, no fire, and no rough-housing. The media, mainly fox news, has attempted to tell the American population that CHAZ is a chaotic place that is on fire.
Now let us talk about what Fox News has done. They photoshopped a picture of an armed guard into a peaceful picture of CHAZ. They attempted to make it seem like a terrorist organization. They also took a picture of flames from a riot in Minnesota and said that the picture was one of CHAZ. After backlash from the populace they have taken the photos down. Even though they took the pictures down, it doesn't excuse them of what they did. What they did was the most petty way of refuting the purpose of CHAZ. They won't ever support anything the left has to say, even if it is objectively true. The fact that there is racism in our justice system is true. Their actions were so petty. They essentially lied just to frame the left side.
I also want to mention the people supporting black lives matter. I saw something today that really moved me. Just as a little context, in CHAZ there was a place dedicated to all the people who have died in the past month relating to BLM, mainly George Floyd. I saw a man who was kneeled in front of the memorial. He was full of tears. He was white. I say that last part not to be racist. I said it because it shows how much BLM has reached to people. People of every ethnicity are banding together. Everyone supports BLM.
That's it for today's blog. I find that the best way I can support the BLM movement is through these articles. Thanks for reading!
